چکیده

The hardest instances of phase retrieval arise in crystallography, where the signal is periodic and comprised of atomic distributions arranged uniformly in the unit cell of the crystal. We have constructed a graded set of benchmark problems for evaluating algorithms that perform this type of phase retrieval. A simple iterative algorithm was used to establish baseline runtimes that empirically grow exponentially in the sparsity of the signal autocorrelation. We also review the algorithms used by the leading software packages for crystallographic phase retrieval.

Chaotic Genetic Algorithm based on Explicit Memory with a new Strategy for Updating and Retrieval of Memory in Dynamic Environments

Many of the problems considered in optimization and learning assume that solutions exist in a dynamic. Hence, algorithms are required that dynamically adapt with the problem’s conditions and search new conditions. Mostly, utilization of information from the past allows to quickly adapting changes after. This is the idea underlining the use of memory in this field, what involves key design issue...

A novel hybrid meta-heuristic technique applied to the well-known benchmark optimization problems

In this paper, a hybrid meta-heuristic algorithm, based on imperialistic competition algorithm (ICA), harmony search (HS), and simulated annealing (SA) is presented. The body of the proposed hybrid algorithm is based on ICA. The proposed hybrid algorithm inherits the advantages of the process of harmony creation in HS algorithm to improve the exploitation phase of the ICA algorithm. In addition...

A Radon-based Convolutional Neural Network for Medical Image Retrieval

Image classification and retrieval systems have gained more attention because of easier access to high-tech medical imaging. However, the lack of availability of large-scaled balanced labelled data in medicine is still a challenge. Simplicity, practicality, efficiency, and effectiveness are the main targets in medical domain. To achieve these goals, Radon transformation, which is a well-known t...

Problems with Running a Successful Multimedia Retrieval Benchmark

Content-based image retrieval (CBIR) and multimedia retrieval are at the point where they are ready to leave the pure research status and become integrated into commercial prototypes and products. This requires techniques not only to be interesting as theoretical approaches but also to be comparable with respect to performance obtained. Similar to the text retrieval domain many years ago, sever...
